The 2025 campaign season is over and the 2026 election cycle has begun. There are several interesting statewide races including the Gubernatorial race and a US Senate race. One third of Ohio’s State senate seats are up for grabs as well as every seat in the US congress and the State House of Representatives.

I have officially decided to enter the Ohio Gubernatorial race as the first Libertarian to run for governor since Travis Irvine in 2018, look for a formal announcement in the coming days.

Since most Ohioans desire having a third alternative on their ballot, you may ask why wasn’t there a Libertarian Gubernatorial candidate in 2014 and 2022? The answer is simple: When you have a two party system you wind up with one party rule. The Republican Party has held a veto proof supermajority since 2010 and in 2013 passed SB 193, which made it virtually impossible for alternative parties to gain ballot access and run for office. Since 2013, The Libertarian Party of Ohio is the only alternative party to have ballot access from 2018 to 2020 and 2024 to the present. In order to maintain our ballot access, the Libertarian Party of Ohio needs 3% from their Gubernatorial candidate. This is a difficult, but achievable task, but if you would like to see a positive change consider voting for the Libertarian candidates on your ballot. THis is one great way to tell Columbus and Washington, that we are tired of the same politics as usual.
