The basic principle is that any person who can prove ‘financial need’ will be eligible for state grants. However, the ‘financial need’ differs from one grant to another. - Single Mother Grants: This grant is applicable to mothers who are 25 years of age or older and have taken a significant break before getting back to college.
These are some of the most common reasons for applying for state grants. The application may take from few months to a year to get scrutinized and get approved by state government. The grants offered by the state and its availability vary from one state to another. Sometimes, people who are not qualified for federal grants can obtain state grant as the eligibility for the state grants have different criteria.
